Be Nice (World Saving Tip #2)

Real Talk

“Courage, love, friendship,
compassion, and empathy
lift us above the simple beasts
and define humanity.”

– Dean Koontz, The Book of Counted Sorrows

In the heated political climate that exists today, it has never been more important to follow this tip.

Regardless of which side of the political spectrum your ideologies fall, you are the only one to blame for how you associate with other people.

Think about it for a moment…

How boring would this world be if we all agreed about every single little thing?

I am a firm believer that it is our differences that truly make this work. It is those differences that built roads, bridges, and skyscrapers. Those same differences also built cars, made it possible to soar through the skies, and journey beyond the boundary of our own planet. Were we to not have those differences, we would all still be living in the wilderness, perfectly satisfied with not trying to make this world any better.

In fact, if we weren’t different, there would be no reason for us to interact with one another at all.

The problem that exists today, however, is that we have forgotten how to simply be nice to one another. We have let those aforementioned political ideologies become the forefront of our daily lives, instead of remembering to “love thy neighbor”.

Don’t get me wrong…I’m not saying that you shouldn’t fight for your beliefs. You absolutely should. I’m just saying that there is a right way to do it, and a wrong way to do it.

Lately, it seems as if the wrong way is all that people know anymore.

But we can change that…by being nice.
