Still A Republican? Why?

Real Talk

When asked why they vote Republican, most people will simply give the “because I’m a Conservative” answer. For a long time, that was an appropriate response, as the Republican Party was the home for conservative ideals. Is it still, though?

Fiscal responsibility, smaller government, lower taxes, etc., have all been the calling cards of conservatives, and by proxy, Republicans. In recent years, however, many Republicans have abandoned actually fighting for legislation that supports those conservative ideas. While there are still a few pugilistic voices, namely Ted Cruz and Mike Lee, most Republicans just simply vote in lockstep with whatever will make them popular to the masses…and we just keep voting for them.

If it teaches us nothing else, this recent election should’ve at least opened our eyes to the fact that most of the choices we had were, in fact, horrible. Everyone is so busy voting against the “other party” that they are ignoring the political ineptness of the candidates they are actually choosing.

Look, I get it. Sometimes it can’t be helped, and the lesser of two evils is still a better choice. That’s not always the case, though. You should never feel like you’re having to choose between one cult or the other.

More and more, independent candidates are starting to come out of the woodwork, and maybe it’s time we all start paying attention. I’m not just saying this because I, myself, am running as an Independent. I’m saying this because it is the truth, and that truth is what caused me to do this in the first place.

Once upon a time, Democrats became Republicans, saying, “I didn’t leave the Democrat Party. The Democrat Party left me.”. Many Republicans are now feeling that exact same way. The alternative choices are there. Take a few moments to start studying all of the candidates, see which ones actually align with your values, and vote accordingly.

God bless you all!

  1. A motivating discussion
is worth comment. I do think that you should write more about this issue,

it might not be a taboo subject but usually folks don’t talk about
    such topics. To the next!
    Best wishes!!

  2. You actually make it seem so easy with
your presentation but I find this matter to be actually something which I think
I would never understand. It seems too complicated and extremely broad for me.

I’m looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it!
